Winter takes a toll on my hair. Between the cold air outside and the dry heat circulating through every place indoor and – of course – dyeing my hair regularly in my signature color it has a hard time surviving winter. Lack of moisture, this resulting in a lack of shine and damaged ends is something my locks experience every winter.
But thankfully hair can be revived with the right haircare routine reversing cold weather damage and bringing hair back to life to its shiny, healthy self is possible.
Tried & Tested: Aveda Sap Moss
When Aveda launched their line of Sap Moss I knew I had to try it. Aveda’s Sap Moss duo, a silicone-free shampoo and a conditioner, is formulated with a blend of Iceland moss and larch tree sap. The Sap Moss weightless hydration shampoo gently cleanses without stripping; whilst the Sap Moss weightless hydration conditioner instantly detangles.
Together, they infuse hair with weightless hydration, while helping tame frizz. This leaves hair feeling perfectly quenched and manageable and does not weigh my hair down which is super important to me. So it really does some serious damage control for my hair. It brings it back to life keeping it in good condition while the cold winter days are still here.
The shampoo has a surprisingly creamy texture but is easy to spread on wet hair. Next to the Iceland moss the coconut oil in the Sap Moss conditioner also helps to bring a lot of moisture to your hair.
The Power of Sap Moss reinvigorated my dehydrated, colored hair and made it feel soft and hydrated after using both products regularly. I also like the natural and earthy scent created with jasmine and certified organic olibanum, cypress and clary sage.

How do you know Aveda Sap Moss is right for your hair?
If your hair feels frizzy, brittle, dry or unmanageable and lacks shine, you are a perfect candidate. It works on all hair types, from curly and coily to straight.
Once you are on the road to recovery to bring your hair back to life don’t forget your hair ends as they can be damaged easily. So in between trims at the hairdresser I like to nourish the lengths. I use a few drops of Aveda’s Daily Moisturizing Oil from the Dry Remedy line to keep them healthy. But pace yourself and do not use more than two to four (if you have thick, long hair) drops because it’s really intense.
